Trading Grain by the Sea

For all who know me, it is apparent that I love to talk and share a good story. I believe it's the Italian deep within. So it only seemed right to try a blog (you'll have to imagine the hands in motion that make a story even better). In addition to the story teller that lives inside of me, is a being that feeds on truth. I have a need to know that which is true. I have stared dishonesty in the face and it's ugly. But somewhere along the way I discovered the only Truth that matters and as I live out life following that truth it only seems right to let you in on the story. I was reading in Ecclesiastes (Chapter 11) about "casting your bread upon the waters." If one looks to the commentaries, you may read where this may suggest sowing in flooded areas or carrying on grain trade by the sea. Either way....the goods are being distributed in hopes of a generous return. Further down in that chapter, the author suggested to "Give portions to seven, yes to eight, for you do not know what disaster may come upon the land." Giving generously, hmmm, we usually equate that with dollar signs ($$) but I believe this includes casting the Hope I promised and the Loving-kindness I've gathered in my basket into the waters...to be shared while I can...as there may come a day when it is not possible. Life is uncertain and the grains we scatter before us provides others with the sustenance they need. We are not to hold onto our ration but to share. So I begin here by the water, folding back my linen, breaking off pieces of my life as He leads me, sowing my seed, giving out grain, casting my bread...The Bread Of life....in hopes of a generous return in the time of harvest.
